Michael Poast’s Color Music will be featured in an exhibition and special musical reading event and jam session at

Gallery Gaia, 79 Hudson Avenue, Vinegar Hill, DUMBO, Brooklyn, NY 11201

has now been extended through November, 2021.

Color Music is an alternative notation system used for musical expression comprised of visual colors and shapes. The performers “read” the visual colors and realize the musical sound.  Michael Poast has developed this unique form of composing. He is also Director of the InterMedia Ensemble.

​

The exhibition features Poast’s Timelessness scores, a new series Poast has been working on for the past 4 years, and based on his research into philosophy, physics, time and space. Timelessness is a non-linear format of presenting the color notation.  Instead of one page in a sequence of pages, Color Music Timelessness is comprised of  painted pages of musical manuscript Poast has composed, and collaged into large shaped scores.

Poast has created a color musical score environment in the gallery. The performers will immerse themselves not only in the environment, but into the colors of the scores.

 Admission is free. Special Color Music Jam session, Sat. Oct. 30th, 2 PM.
